Zouma looking like the real deal in the Chelsea defense

The young French defender didnt start the season well, but has steadily improved as the season wore on.

Many Chelsea fans would agree that the Zouma who faced Manchester United on the opening day of the 2019/2020 season is a far different player than the rock solid Mr dependable against same Manchester united in the FA cup semi-final a few days ago.

The 25 year old former Stoke City loanee would be the first to admit that he didnt have a good game and with such humility, the sky is surely his limit.

Partnered with Rudiger, they have kept four clean sheets and in every of those games, the former Everton loanee has been very crucial to preserving the clean sheet.

With three more games deemed cup finals on the horizon, Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard, would be wise to utilize his steadily improving defender.

On his part, Lampard has done an excellent job managing Zouma and giving him confidence, especially when he seemed bereft of it earlier in the campaign, and the French defender appearing in 38 games this season for Chelsea (the highest of all Chelsea's defenders bar the captain Azpilicueta) has don't much to repay the manager's faith in him, as his recent performances against City, Leicester and Manchester United have shown.

With the blues currently linked with high profile defenders in the transfer market, it may be that all the Chelsea team need is another top defender to partner the colossal 25 year old.

THREE THINGS CHELSEA MUST DO TO BEAT MANCHESTER UNITED

Chelsea have met and lost three times to Manchester United this season. Now they face each other again in an FA cup semi-Final clash, and this is a match Chelsea cannot afford to lose. we now look at three things Chelsea must do to win.

\

1. SORT OUT DEFENSE

This part of the team has caused Chelsea more harm than good. Our four center backs have been so inconsistent that even up till the end of the season, Frank Lampard does not know what his preferred centre back partnership is.

Now they come up against a Manchester United side in great form and pacey attackers, and the blues defense must be focused and smart to keep them at bay. Going by recent performances and some dogged defensive display through the season, it would be wise for the Chelsea coach to revert to a 3-4-3 formation with Azpilicueta, Rudiger and Zouma as three centre backs, while Reece James and Alonso can man the wing back roles.

This should give some defensive solidity to the team and keep the pacy attackers of Ole's men at bay.

2. STRIKE A PROPER TACTIC BALANCE

Chelsea have been known to play beautiful attacking football through the season. But Lampard's men have also shown that they can be pragmatic as evidenced by their performances against Manchester City a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, it is no longer a hidden fact that the Stamford Bridge side have outplayed the Old Trafford side every time they met this season and yet going on to lose each game.

If the Blues are to win this one, they must have tactical balance, being careful not to give the Red Devil's opportunity to hit them on the counter. It would also be helpful if the midfield partnership can consist of Jorginho and Kovacic.

3. WILLIAN MUST STEP UP

At the start of the season, Willian's form was a key in the consecutive wins which Chelsea enjoyed. The Brazilian was also imperial in the wins over Jose's Spurs and Klopp's Liverpool. If the Londoners are to win this one, the Chelsea number 10 must stand up and lead from the front a true Chelsea old guard. If he does this, then Pulisic will not have the whole creative burden, and route to the FA cup final will be navigated more smoothly.

Chelsea fans have reason to be optimistic in this one as the team will battle hard not to loose for the fourth time to Manchester United in one season. Good luck lads!

Chelsea FC: Frank Lampard punching above his weight

If there is one thing that all English Premier league fans can agree on, it is the fact that Chelsea Boss: Frank Lampard has done an amazing job this season with what he was given.

Almost all Chelsea fans were ecstatic when the Club's all time highest goal scorer was appointed manager of the London based club. His appointment brought about a divided fan base together, something not experienced since Jose Mourinho's second coming.

Nevertheless there was a little bit of apprehension as many fans wondered if Super Frank was up to the task of competing with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp or even Mauricio Pochettino. The Chelsea boss with only one year experience of professional management, had arrived at a big club that just sold its best player, and due to the transfer ban, were unable to replace him.

With this unfavorable circumstance, all any Chelsea fan could hope for was a top four finish and even that hope seemed far fetch when one consider the recruiting power of other league competitors.

However, just like the rising of the sun, the blues gradually began to rise up the table with a 7 game winning streak. at this point, every Chelsea fan began to believe, because not only was the club winning games, they were playing some amazing football with academy products such as Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Tomori, so much so that Chelsea became the second team of many EPL fan.

Mount, Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic

Its just two games left to go in the league and Chelsea currently sit at the third position. What an amazing achievement this has been for the rookie Manager. In a peculiar transition season, The Chelsea coach has slugged it out with heavy weights, defeating Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho's Spurs and  Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp.

Truly its been an amazing season for Chelsea, Frank Lampard and the fans. Better days surely are ahead and we cant wait for next season to begin. But first, these young Chelsea players must dig deep to get at least a win and a draw against runaway champions Liverpool and Stubborn Wolves.

To that, we say Good luck lads!
