Can Abraham be the next Drogba or will Chelsea rue his exit as Lukaku?

With rumors flying abroad Tammy's desire to leave in search of first team football and Chelsea management not helping matters with his constant presence on the sidelines, one can knly help but wonder if he will ever fulfill his potential as Chelsea's Drogba replacement or find greener pastures else where as the big Belgian- Lukaku!

Personally, this is one decision Chelsea needs to make carefully.

There is no denying Abraham's talents and his penchant for scoring goals. His loss of form coincided with the injury he suffered at the start of Tuchel's reign and since then has found first team football hard to come by.

With this season gone already, our eyes turn to next season and its either a leave or stay for the young English striker. Chelsea will do well not to make the same mistake of letting him go like they did with Kevin DeBruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohammed Salah.

The board must convince him to stay and convince Tuchel to put him in his plan and get the best out of him. He is a proven Premier league scorer and needs that extra bit of confidence from the coach to get back to his best.

Chelsea fans what do you think?

Should Abraham stay or go?

Tuchel learning the EPL way as Chelsea produce a master class display to defeat Leicester City

The German tactician is showing that he can take his team to a higher level in just a matter of days.

It was difficult to believe that this was the same lethargic chelsea who lost the FA cup final to same opponents.

Last night, Chelsea were purposeful and kept Leicester in their own half for almost 90 minutes and if not for some woeful finishing and VAR interventions would have won the game by a higher scoreline margin.

The intensity of play, the speed of passes and the counter pressing was top notch and the blues deservedly won the tie to move into 3rd position at the expense of Brendan Rodgers side.

Now the final EPL game against Aston Villa comes up on sunday 4pm WAT. A victory there will see the stamford bridge outfit seal 3rd place and ensure Champions league football next season.

From then on, all eyes will turn to the Champions league final on 29th May.

Show Tuchel some respect with a like...

Zouma looking like the real deal in the Chelsea defense

The young French defender didnt start the season well, but has steadily improved as the season wore on.

Many Chelsea fans would agree that the Zouma who faced Manchester United on the opening day of the 2019/2020 season is a far different player than the rock solid Mr dependable against same Manchester united in the FA cup semi-final a few days ago.

The 25 year old former Stoke City loanee would be the first to admit that he didnt have a good game and with such humility, the sky is surely his limit.

Partnered with Rudiger, they have kept four clean sheets and in every of those games, the former Everton loanee has been very crucial to preserving the clean sheet.

With three more games deemed cup finals on the horizon, Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard, would be wise to utilize his steadily improving defender.

On his part, Lampard has done an excellent job managing Zouma and giving him confidence, especially when he seemed bereft of it earlier in the campaign, and the French defender appearing in 38 games this season for Chelsea (the highest of all Chelsea's defenders bar the captain Azpilicueta) has don't much to repay the manager's faith in him, as his recent performances against City, Leicester and Manchester United have shown.

With the blues currently linked with high profile defenders in the transfer market, it may be that all the Chelsea team need is another top defender to partner the colossal 25 year old.

THREE THINGS CHELSEA MUST DO TO BEAT MANCHESTER UNITED

Chelsea have met and lost three times to Manchester United this season. Now they face each other again in an FA cup semi-Final clash, and this is a match Chelsea cannot afford to lose. we now look at three things Chelsea must do to win.

\

1. SORT OUT DEFENSE

This part of the team has caused Chelsea more harm than good. Our four center backs have been so inconsistent that even up till the end of the season, Frank Lampard does not know what his preferred centre back partnership is.

Now they come up against a Manchester United side in great form and pacey attackers, and the blues defense must be focused and smart to keep them at bay. Going by recent performances and some dogged defensive display through the season, it would be wise for the Chelsea coach to revert to a 3-4-3 formation with Azpilicueta, Rudiger and Zouma as three centre backs, while Reece James and Alonso can man the wing back roles.

This should give some defensive solidity to the team and keep the pacy attackers of Ole's men at bay.

2. STRIKE A PROPER TACTIC BALANCE

Chelsea have been known to play beautiful attacking football through the season. But Lampard's men have also shown that they can be pragmatic as evidenced by their performances against Manchester City a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, it is no longer a hidden fact that the Stamford Bridge side have outplayed the Old Trafford side every time they met this season and yet going on to lose each game.

If the Blues are to win this one, they must have tactical balance, being careful not to give the Red Devil's opportunity to hit them on the counter. It would also be helpful if the midfield partnership can consist of Jorginho and Kovacic.

3. WILLIAN MUST STEP UP

At the start of the season, Willian's form was a key in the consecutive wins which Chelsea enjoyed. The Brazilian was also imperial in the wins over Jose's Spurs and Klopp's Liverpool. If the Londoners are to win this one, the Chelsea number 10 must stand up and lead from the front a true Chelsea old guard. If he does this, then Pulisic will not have the whole creative burden, and route to the FA cup final will be navigated more smoothly.

Chelsea fans have reason to be optimistic in this one as the team will battle hard not to loose for the fourth time to Manchester United in one season. Good luck lads!

Chelsea FC: Frank Lampard punching above his weight

If there is one thing that all English Premier league fans can agree on, it is the fact that Chelsea Boss: Frank Lampard has done an amazing job this season with what he was given.

Almost all Chelsea fans were ecstatic when the Club's all time highest goal scorer was appointed manager of the London based club. His appointment brought about a divided fan base together, something not experienced since Jose Mourinho's second coming.

Nevertheless there was a little bit of apprehension as many fans wondered if Super Frank was up to the task of competing with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp or even Mauricio Pochettino. The Chelsea boss with only one year experience of professional management, had arrived at a big club that just sold its best player, and due to the transfer ban, were unable to replace him.

With this unfavorable circumstance, all any Chelsea fan could hope for was a top four finish and even that hope seemed far fetch when one consider the recruiting power of other league competitors.

However, just like the rising of the sun, the blues gradually began to rise up the table with a 7 game winning streak. at this point, every Chelsea fan began to believe, because not only was the club winning games, they were playing some amazing football with academy products such as Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Tomori, so much so that Chelsea became the second team of many EPL fan.

Mount, Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic

Its just two games left to go in the league and Chelsea currently sit at the third position. What an amazing achievement this has been for the rookie Manager. In a peculiar transition season, The Chelsea coach has slugged it out with heavy weights, defeating Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho's Spurs and  Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp.

Truly its been an amazing season for Chelsea, Frank Lampard and the fans. Better days surely are ahead and we cant wait for next season to begin. But first, these young Chelsea players must dig deep to get at least a win and a draw against runaway champions Liverpool and Stubborn Wolves.

To that, we say Good luck lads!

WHY FALCAO CAN STILL BE A SUCCESS AT CHELSEA!
When Manchester United took Radamel Falcao on loan last season, fans and pundits alike were excited at the prospect of the Columbian hit man gracing the turf at Old Trafford. Before he suffered the tear to his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a French Cup tie, Falcao was one of the most sought after strikers in world football, producing devastating performances of strength, speed and marksmanship – most notably against Chelsea in the 2012 UEFA Super Cup Final and Real Madrid in the 2013 Copa DelRay. Despite his remarkable return to fitness, he missed the 2014 World Cup and it was hoped that pulling on the red of United would reignite Falcao, continuing where he left off. However, commanding a £265,000 per week salary and a £6million loan fee, added on the pressure for success. Where did it all go wrong? With a return of four goals and four assists in 29 games and a single shot on target in his final 12 Premier League appearances for United, Falcao’s time in England was universally deemed as a failure. However, he joined a Manchester United side retracing their steps, rebuilding their team on the pitch and trying to restore their former glory and continue where they left off a few seasons ago…sound familiar? It took Louis Van Gaal time to adapt to the Premier League, he experimented with different players, systems and tactics (see previous article) and only towards the latter part of the season did he turn around the Red Devils season and guide them to Champions League football. This is a difficult environment for a South American footballer, returning from a career threatening injury to cut his teeth – Angel Di Maria came to United straight of scoring the winning goal in the Champions League Final 2013 and look at the disappointment he endured during this season. Despite the statistics, we saw numerous glimpses of the precise and clever movements in behind oppositions defences, timing runs to perfection – what we failed to see was end product – and by that I mean the electric burst of pace and ruthless finishing we had grown accustom too. Hiswork rate and industry could not be faulted either, he showed hunger and desire when off the ball, closing down the opposition and forcing mistakes (the home match vs Newcastle Utd springs to mind). However, towards the end of the season and after being demoted to the reserves in March, I began to feel a great deal of sympathy for Radamel Falcao. He was a shadow of his former self but to his credit, maintained a fantastic level of professionalism throughout (look at the way he applauded the support and the field in his final game). He seems a very humble man, one who was as disappointed as the rest of us in his performances at Old Trafford.‘Subtle but Key’In my opinion, it was the ‘body failing the mind’ last season for Falcao, who I think will be a success at Chelsea. He won’t return to the player he was a few years ago, but I believe Mourinho will heal the psychological wound of last season and help the Columbian to reassert himself in the eyes of world football, by facilitating Falcao to make a subtle, but key contribution to Chelsea’s season. Jose was quoted as saying “For a player of his level and quality, it’s a real shame people in England think Falcao is the player who was at Manchester United “. If you look at a Chelsea’s squad, Jose thrives on working with players with hunger, with something to prove and a desire to continue their development, at the start or end of their careers. He also has previous, Hernan Crespo and Samuel Eto’o were both players who felt they had something to prove by playing in the Premier League and they managed to contribute to Chelsea’s success despite playing second fiddle for the most part of their time at the bridge. It’s likely Falcao won’t play week in week out, however Drogba still managed to clock up 40 appearances last term, despite being brought in as ‘back up’ to Diego Costa. Chelsea’s schedule won’t get any less hectic this season, so Falcao can be prepared to rack up some game time. Furthermore, barring an injury at the current Copa America tournament, Falcao will also be much more physically fit and equipped for the Premier League next term.Chelsea’s style of play will undoubtedly suit Falcao’s attributes. Their strengths this season have been their ability to attack down both flanks, the use of their full backs in attacking situations, creating chances through individual skill and the lethal conversion of goal scoring opportunities. Last season, Manchester United’s played at a slow tempo, building and retaining possession and waiting for the opposition to make an error for them to exploit. Falcao played predominantly with his back to goal and only on a few occasions did he look to run in behind the defence. WithHazard and Fabregas, Chelsea will create more goal scoring opportunities for Falcao and that is why I believe he will find his feet and start to rediscover his goal scoring potency, especially when the opposition are fatigued after 70 minutes of Diego Costa giving them a roughing up. Although, perhaps Costa and Falcao could strike up the old partnership? Despite not seeing eye to eye, the pair were a tremendous success at Athletico Madrid, but with the roles reversed and Costa being the main striker, who knows how that relationship will develop.
Falcao has got a second chance, a second opportunity with all the cards (Chelsea’s style of play, his fitness levels, experience etc) stacked in his favour, which at United, he did not. However, I think this adds even more pressure than last season, he is at the perfect club, with the best manager to help him get his reputation restored, if there is no improvement shown this season, who knows what next for Falcao.
A £35m price tag for next summer? Everyone will be watching and paying close attention.
